Is it permissible for the husband's father to interfere in his son's marital life?
The questioner did not clarify the nature of the father's interference in their lives, nor whether it is for their benefit or not. Parents must be obeyed in what is right. If his interference is rightful, then obedience to him is obligatory; otherwise, it is not. We advise the questioner to be an aid to her husband in obeying his parents, to be patient with their interference, and for them both to act with wisdom, gentleness, and respect, for the result of this will be the righteousness of their children and the pleasure of Allah. If the interference reaches the point of harming the wife and she cannot bear it, then she has the right to demand that her husband remove the harm.
