What is the correct way to understand the rulings of Sharia?

The rulings of Sharia are understood by studying its texts under the guidance of scholars, who interpret these texts based on the rules of language, the principles of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and the understanding of the righteous predecessors (Salaf as-Salih).

One can refer to books on the verses of rulings (Ayat al-Ahkam) and the hadiths of rulings (Ahadith al-Ahkam), such as: "Ayat al-Ahkam" by Ibn al-Arabi, "Ayat al-Ahkam" by al-Jassas, "Al-Jami' li Ahkam al-Qur'an" by al-Qurtubi, "Al-Istidhkar" by Ibn Abd al-Barr, "Ihkam al-Ahkam" by Ibn Daqiq al-Eid, "Tarh al-Tathrib" by al-Iraqi, "Subul al-Salam" by al-San'ani, and "Nayl al-Awtar" by al-Shawkani.

Furthermore, one must be diligent in fearing Allah Almighty (Taqwa), for it aids in seeking knowledge and gaining a deep understanding of the religion, and it grants discernment and insight. Allah Almighty says: "And fear Allah. And Allah teaches you. And Allah is Knowing of all things." (Al-Baqarah: 282). And He says: "O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and remove from you your evil deeds and forgive you; and Allah is the possessor of great bounty." (Al-Anfal: 29). So, whoever fears Allah will be guided to discern truth from falsehood, and this will be a means for their salvation and victory in this world and the Hereafter.
