Why was the Year of the Elephant given this name, when was the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, born, what did Allah send down upon the elephants, and to whom was Surat Al-Fil revealed?

The Year of the Elephant was named as such because Abraha al-Habashi came with elephants to demolish the Kaaba. So, Allah sent against his army flocks of birds (Ababeel), striking them with stones of baked clay (Sijjil), and He made them like devoured shredded leaves. The Surah was revealed to Muhammad, peace be upon him.
