Is it permissible for a woman to travel for one day with her work team for a recreational trip—one that does not require an overnight stay—to a distance of approximately two hours of bus travel?

A woman is not permitted to travel without a mahram (unmarriageable kin), based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "A woman shall not travel except with a mahram." This applies to everything that can be described as travel. Most scholars are of the opinion that a woman is not allowed to travel without a mahram, with the exception of the obligatory Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
