Is a girl's fast valid if her irregular menstrual period began two days before Ramadan, and then she performed ghusl and saw a brownish discharge, then the same discharge returned a day or two later in a large quantity, then it returned a third and fourth time in small quantities, until a yellowish then a whitish discharge appeared, and she did not perform ghusl believing it to be a kudra or sufra? What is incumbent upon her now?

If a woman performs ghusl after seeing the sign of purity (either dryness or a white discharge), then any subsequent brownish discharge is not considered menstruation unless it connects with menstrual blood or occurs during the habitual period. She is not required to perform ghusl for it. However, if she performs ghusl before seeing the sign of purity, her ghusl is not valid, and she must repeat the prayers she performed without proper ghusl. Her fasting, however, is valid. It is advisable to disregard whispers [of doubt].
