Are the actions of the suitor, in distancing himself due to his financial problems, considered normal? And is my concern that this might be a divine punishment for my rejection of previous suitors valid? And how should I deal with this situation?

A person of good religious commitment and character should not be rejected if he proposes, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If someone whose religious commitment and character you are pleased with proposes to you, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." As for rejecting someone who is not pleasing in terms of religious commitment and character, there is no harm in that, nor in rejecting someone who is pleasing for a valid reason. Delayed marriage or a lack of suitors is not an indication of punishment; rather, good may lie in that. As for the last suitor, he is a non-mahram, and privacy with him is not permissible. If he possesses religious commitment and good character, he may be the suitable husband, and there is no impediment to accepting him as a husband.
