Is it permissible to force-feed ducks—which is done by filling their mouths with corn and pushing it down their throats by pressing on their gullets—with the aim of fattening them for slaughter?

Force-feeding ducks (tazghīt al-baṭṭ), which involves feeding them beyond satiety to fatten them, is permissible, but it is preferable to avoid it. Sheikh Abdul Qadir disliked it because it resembles compelling an animal to eat beyond its capacity. As for fattening sacrificial animals, the majority of scholars hold it to be permissible, while Ibn Sha'ban disliked it due to its resemblance to the practice of the Jews. Evidence for the permissibility of fattening animals is what was narrated by Sahnun from Ashhab and Ibn Nafi' that Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im ordered his roosters to be fattened, and no one condemned that, which indicates the permissibility of fattening animals.
