Was Abraham Hebrew, and if not, what was he, and are the Hebrews the Jews, and what then would Ishmael be?

Ibrahim (peace be upon him) used to speak Syriac, then his tongue changed to Hebrew after he crossed the Euphrates. It was named Hebrew because he spoke it when he crossed the Euphrates. It is narrated that Moses (peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel spoke Hebrew when they crossed the sea. Hebrew is the language of the Jews and the language of the Torah, but this does not mean that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Jewish, for the Torah was revealed a long time after him.
