Is it permissible to swear by the Quran not to marry someone due to a lack of acceptance of them?
The primary course of action for someone who swore an oath regarding something that is not a sin is to fulfill their oath. If the person sworn to be married is of good character and religious commitment, we advise the one who swore the oath to fulfill it. The feeling of dislike they may find in themselves now has no bearing. Allah Almighty says: {And it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you}. If the one who swore the oath cannot fulfill it and breaks it, then they must offer expiation for breaking the oath. If the woman who swore the oath cannot bear the person she swore to marry, or finds someone better than him in his religion and character, then let her expiate for her oath, and by doing so, she is released from it, and there is no sin upon her in not marrying him or in marrying someone else.
