Boycotting parents is an act of disobedience and a severing of kinship ties. It is obligatory to treat them kindly, even if they are disbelievers. Do not think that boycotting will solve the problem; rather, it may complicate it further. If treating one of them kindly displeases the other, then treat both of them kindly without informing the other. Advise your parents in a gentle manner, and strive for reconciliation through mediation by someone who has influence over them, and do not despair.
