Islam prohibits cheating due to the deception and fraud it entails, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever cheats us is not of us." Cheating takes many forms, including concealing defects and hiding them, whether in marriage or in sales. Another form is shortchanging in weights and measures. Thus, any defect that ought to have been disclosed to the other party but was not, is considered cheating.
