The meaning of the verse is that the total duration of pregnancy and breastfeeding is thirty months, of which two years are for complete breastfeeding, as stated in the Almighty's saying: "And mothers shall breastfeed their children for two whole years, for those who wish to complete the nursing" [Al-Baqarah:233]. This leaves six months, which is the minimum duration for a pregnancy from which the newborn survives.
