What is the ruling on paying the debt of an absent father who left no income, and what should the wife do during his absence, and should she observe an 'iddah, and how long should she wait, and is a weak-faithed person afflicted by sorcery sinful for his delusions?

You are not obligated to pay your father's debt, but if it is easy for you to pay it, then it is an act of piety and benevolence. The marital bond ( عصمة ) does not dissolve with the father's absence; the marriage remains valid. The mother has the right to present her case to the Sharia judge if news of the father is cut off or if she is harmed by his absence. As for the enchanted (مسحور), if he comprehends his words and actions, he is sinful. But if the magic overwhelms his intellect, rendering him like a madman, then he is not held accountable.
