Naming is the father's right in case of dispute, as Almighty Allah says: "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah." However, the father should involve the mother in the naming, and if the name causes harm, it must be avoided, based on the : "There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."
