Naming is the father's right in case of dispute, as Almighty Allah says: "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah." However, the father should involve the mother in the naming, and if the name causes harm, it must be avoided, based on the hadith: "There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."
