Is it permissible for my six-year-old daughter to study in a co-educational school?
It is not permissible to study in co-educational schools except out of extreme necessity. If it is possible to transfer the daughter to a girls' school, it is not permissible to keep her in a co-educational school. However, if only co-educational schools are available and there is a need for her to study, then it is permissible for her to remain, provided she is taught matters of her religion, guided to avoid mingling with boys, and accustomed to modesty. The noble Hadith has indicated the danger of the mingling of boys and girls, and scholars have clarified that their mingling in primary stages is objectionable due to the evils that result from it.
