Who killed Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and is it true what was said that Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan and his son Yazid burned him to death?

Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq was one of Ali's commanders, sent to govern Egypt in the year 37 AH. He encountered Mu'awiya's army, led by Mu'awiya ibn Hudaij al-Kindi, and fought them until he was killed. It is said that he hid in the house of an Egyptian woman, whereupon Mu'awiya ibn Hudaij apprehended and killed him. It was also mentioned that he was placed inside the carcass of a dead donkey and burned, or sent to Amr ibn al-'As, who then killed him. Yazid ibn Mu'awiya is not mentioned in these accounts.
