Is it permissible to film a wedding video – not with a still camera – for viewing by those who wish to see us?

Photographing women at weddings is forbidden, whether by video or still camera. Video recording is even more reprehensible because it disseminates the woman's true image. This becomes even more abhorrent if the gathering is mixed, especially since women often wear short and revealing clothes on such occasions, which leads to the spread of indecency.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen said: No one would be pleased if pictures of his female mahrams were taken and displayed to people. Some use video to record live, moving party scenes, and the photographers might be young males, which is a reprehensible and forbidden act.

Photographing scenes with a still camera is objectionable, and photographing a scene with a video camera is even more so, because it records the scene live with sight and sound, and no one with modesty and faith would accept it.
