The question

Is it permissible for a woman to pray in the market in the manner of "Salat Hurmat al-Waqt" (prayer to honor the time), performing tayammum on a wall and praying with her head while walking and looking straight ahead, without raising her hands for the takbir, as mentioned by Dr. Muhammad Nuh?

The answer

The people of knowledge have not stated the permissibility of performing obligatory prayers while walking or riding. As for supererogatory prayers, they differed regarding the permissibility of performing them while walking for a traveler. Some of them held that it is not permissible due to the absence of a text, while others held that it is permissible by analogy with one who is riding. The preponderant opinion among the Hanbalis and Shafi'is is that one should face the at the beginning of the prayer and then turn in the direction of their travel. Based on this, the fear of the time expiring does not permit a person to pray the obligatory prayer while walking, nor supererogatory prayers while in a settled location. A Muslim must maintain prayer by performing it within its prescribed time.
