Is it permissible to offer condolences to the relatives of someone killed for apostasy or for brigandage?

The purpose of offering condolences (ta'ziyah) in Islam is to encourage the afflicted to be patient and to supplicate for both them and the deceased Muslim. It is permissible to offer condolences to the Muslim relatives of a person killed by legal retribution (hadd). If the deceased died as an apostate and did not repent, then only their Muslim family members are offered condolences, and no supplication is made for the deceased, because it is not permissible in Islamic law to supplicate for a deceased disbeliever.
