What is the ruling on working as a maintenance engineer in a medical factory where machines similar to original machines containing the phrase "All rights reserved" are developed or manufactured, and the customer is obligated to maintain the confidentiality of the design? Is it permissible to manufacture what the factory needs from these machines? And is this considered an investigation into what is unlawful, or an exaggeration?

Firstly: It is permissible for the manufacturer to develop, simulate, and imitate his own devices, because the machine is his property, and what is forbidden is revealing its manufacturing secrets to competing companies.

Secondly: If the work is suspicious, then abandoning it is an act of piety, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever guards himself against doubtful things, he has indeed guarded his religion and his honor," and his saying: "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt." However, if the work is permissible, then abandoning it out of excessive religiosity is a form of extremism. A Muslim must seek out what is clearly permissible and not pay attention to whispers [of doubt].
