Why do many people not adopt Sheikh Al-Albani's views on fiqh, and are there significant errors in his fiqh methodology, and can he be relied upon as a fiqh reference?

People are divided into four categories in terms of understanding and comprehension: an absolute mujtahid, who is the highest class, such as the four imams; a preferential mujtahid, who weighs between the sayings of scholars; a muqallid (follower), who is unable to weigh; and a common person, who asks scholars. Sheikh Al-Albani, may Allah have mercy on him, is considered among the mujtahids in fatwa and fiqh. Many scholars have praised him, and his books and tapes demonstrate the depth of his understanding of the Sunnah and fiqh. However, he is not infallible, and his followers should not be fanatically devoted to him. Rather, they should follow the truth wherever it may be.
