Is expiation (kaffarah) required for one who vowed not to play "Janjafah" (a card game) in the "Diwaniya" (a traditional Kuwaiti guesthouse or gathering place), then broke his vow?

If the game is permissible, the person has the choice between fulfilling the vow or performing it along with an expiation for a broken oath (kaffarat yamin) as a precaution. If the game is impermissible, then it is obligatory to abandon it and stay away from it permanently. It is not permissible to play it. If it is played, an expiation for a broken oath becomes obligatory, according to some scholars, based on the hadith: "There is no vow in disobedience, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."
