Accusations of adultery are serious and can only be proven by confession or by the testimony of four upright witnesses who explicitly saw the act. A husband's adultery does not permit his wife to refuse intimacy with him unless there is real harm. A husband's abandonment of acts of worship, such as prayer and fasting, is a grave sin, and some scholars consider one who abandons prayer to be a disbeliever. He must be advised and reminded of Allah. If he persists in his evil deeds, the wife may seek divorce due to his transgression. However, enduring and supplicating for him may lead to his righteousness.
