The answer

If the deceased leaves behind only a wife, sons, and daughters, the wife receives one-eighth (1/8th) due to the presence of a lineal descendant. Allah, the Exalted, says: ("... But if you have a child, then for them [the wives] is one-eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt.") The remainder is for the sons and daughters by way of ta'sib (residuary heirship), with the male receiving the share of two females, as Allah, the Exalted, says: ("Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females...")

The inheritance is divided into sixteen shares: the wife receives two shares, each son receives two shares, and each daughter receives one share.
