Is it permissible to fumigate with alum to ward off envy or the evil eye?

The treatment for magic or the evil eye is through legitimate Ruqyah. It is impermissible to seek treatment by fumigating with alum, herbs, or papers, because these are not ordinary means of treatment. The intent behind such practices might be to appease the jinn devils and seek their aid for healing. Rather, these conditions are treated with legitimate Ruqyah and similar practices proven in authentic hadiths.
