What is the ruling on unmarried men using perfumes?

Using pure, permissible perfume for men is lawful and desirable, for it is from the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to love and use perfume. The use of perfume is permissible for both married and unmarried men, because a man is required to beautify himself for his wife. However, it is not permissible for a man to use perfumes specific to women, as this constitutes imitation of them, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed men who imitate women.
