What is the ruling on continuing to work in the field of software for a Western company specializing in electronic marketing and advertising, knowing that most advertisements are illicit, and that most companies deal with banks and insurance?

It is impermissible to work for a marketing and advertising company whose primary business is unlawful, even if the work involves maintenance and development, because that is considered aiding in sin, based on the Almighty's saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." However, if a person cannot find another permissible job to cover his expenses and those he supports, there is no sin upon him in remaining until he finds another job. And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, and whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
