Is it permissible for a Muslim to be a Jabri regarding calamities and provisions, and a Qadari regarding obedience and disobedience?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to be a Jabari or a Qadari, because these two doctrines are false. Jabariyya means believing that a person is compelled in his actions, and Qadariyya means denying and disavowing divine preordainment (Qadar (definition)). Both are forms of misguidance. What is obligatory is to believe in Qadar, its good and its evil, and this is the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah (definition) wa al-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community). In calamities, one should observe patience and gratitude, and exert effort in obedience. One must also adhere to the lawful terms found in the Qur'an and Sunnah, and avoid newly invented terms or clarify their intended meaning.
