How can a traveler shorten the 'Isha prayer when its time is due?

Shortening prayers (qasr) is legislated for travel. If you are traveling a distance that permits qasr, then you pray the four-rak'ah prayers as two rak'ahs, which is recommended according to the majority of scholars and obligatory according to some. This applies whether you are actively traveling or have stopped. The concession for travel continues until you return to your homeland or intend to reside for four days or more. A traveler completes their prayer if they pray behind someone who is completing theirs. If a traveler reaches a place where they are required to complete their prayer, they must complete it, even if its time began during their travel.
