Is buying products that contain images—even though their makers are sinning, and knowing that the continued purchase of them may encourage the production of more of them—considered a form of cooperation in sin and aggression?

Purchasing products that have images of animate beings is permissible, because the image is subordinate to the product and not intended for its own sake. That which is tolerated in a subordinate matter is not tolerated in other matters. The one who places a complete image of animate beings or a captivating image is sinful. However, a deficient or non-captivating image does not render one sinful. The buyer is not sinful because he does not assist the one who placed the image in sin; the product will be sold whether or not the images cease to exist.
