ما هي الآيات والأحاديث الواردة في التوراة والإنجيل والتي تشير إلى الإسلام، مثل آية: "مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ اللَّهِ"؟

It is difficult to enumerate all the verses and hadiths that refer to the mention of Islam, the Quran, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Torah and the Gospel, but some can be mentioned. Jesus (peace be upon him) announced the coming of Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the Quran indicates that the People of the Book find the description of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) written with them in the Torah and the Gospel, as in the verse: {Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in their Torah and Gospel}. The Quran also describes the characteristics of the Companions in the Torah and the Gospel, such as in the verse: {Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are strong against disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating}.

Moreover, the People of the Book know the truth and recognize Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as they recognize their own sons, but a group of them conceals the truth. They used to pray for victory against the disbelievers through the Prophet (peace be upon him) before his coming.

Among the hadiths that confirm this is what was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the description of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the Torah is similar to some of his descriptions in the Quran: "You are My servant and My messenger, I have named you Al-Mutawakkil (the one who relies on Allah). He is not rude, nor harsh, nor boisterous in the markets." It was narrated that a Jew was reading the Torah to console himself over his son, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: "Do you find in your book my description and my coming forth?" The Jew denied it, while his son testified that they find his description and his coming forth in the Torah, so he embraced Islam.

Other stories, such as the conversation of Heraclius with Abu Sufyan, the statement of the Negus, the vision of Waraqa ibn Nawfal, and the conversion of some Christians of Najran after hearing the Quran from the Prophet (peace be upon him), indicate the People of the Book's knowledge of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) before his mission, and that their heavenly scriptures contained evidence of his prophethood.
