Is it obligatory to refrain from inviting a non-Muslim to Islam for fear that he might insult the religion?

The داعية (caller to Islam) must be equipped with religious knowledge and sufficient experience in dialoguing with others, understanding their doubts and desires. He must also possess adequate qualification before engaging in da'wah (inviting to Islam). It is not permissible for the داعية to abandon da'wah for fear of the invitee's rejection or insults. Rather, he must adhere to wisdom, good counsel, and arguing in the best manner, as well as gentleness, leniency, giving glad tidings, and making things easy, just as the Prophet, peace be upon him, did. Whoever follows this methodology will not be harmed by any subsequent insults or rejections from the invitee. It is also warned against insulting the deities of polytheists, so that they do not insult God.
