Must one who deliberately broke their fast on a day in Ramadan make up for that day, or make up for that day along with fasting sixty consecutive days?

Whoever intentionally breaks their fast on a day in Ramadan has committed a great sin and must offer sincere repentance. They are only obligated to make up for the day they broke their fast if the breaking of the fast was not by sexual intercourse. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars. Neither expiation (kaffarah) nor ransom (fidyah) is obligatory upon them, as expiation is only obligatory for sexual intercourse.
