Are the intrusive thoughts that involve involuntarily offending God, which cause distress and fear of apostasy or polytheism, deserving of counsel?

Good intentions in religious practice must be followed by righteous deeds to be sincere. Satan is a clear enemy to humanity and seeks to lead astray, yet his cunning is weak. To overcome Satan's whispers (waswas), one must seek Allah's help and rely upon Him. These whispers can be repelled by seeking refuge with Allah when they occur, and by saying: "He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and He is, of all things, Knowing," and by engaging in beneficial lectures. Hating and detesting these whispers is a sign of sound faith, and reciting Surah An-Nas helps to dispel them.
