The answer

Prayer holds immense significance in Islam; it is the second pillar after the two testimonies of faith, and it is the first thing a servant will be held accountable for. There is a severe warning against abandoning it or delaying it, and it is obligatory to observe it on time. Prayer can be performed inside the airport in a clean place, or inside the airplane if it is not possible to pray on the ground and one fears that the time for prayer will expire. It is permissible to pray while sitting, while ensuring to face the , if standing is not possible. It is permissible for a traveler to shorten the four-rak'ah prayers, and to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers, either by advancing or delaying them.
