Which is the correct meaning of "Lā ilāha illā Allāh": Is it "No one is capable of fulfilling needs other than Allah," or "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah"?

Allah Almighty affirms the poverty of His servants towards Him and His richness, being in no need of them, for all blessings come from Him alone. The meaning of "Lā ilāha illallāh" (There is no god but Allah) is "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah," and not merely "There is no one capable of fulfilling needs except Allah." For the true God is the Creator, capable of all things. The polytheists understood that the meaning of this testimony was the invalidation of their deities, which is why they refrained from uttering it. The claim that a Sufi can live without food and drink is a false lie.
