How can I overcome the ordeal of being apprehended by security officers in the act with someone of deviant sexual behavior, and the impact of that on my psychological and social life, especially since those who apprehended me know my father and my cousin works with him, along with my strong desire to repent and commit to religious observance?
The abomination of sodomy is immense and among the gravest of sins, and its punishment is among the severest. One must repent from it, feel remorse, and resolve never to return to it, for Allah accepts the repentance of His servant, forgives his sin, and transforms bad deeds into good deeds, as Allah the Almighty says: {Do they not know that Allah is He who accepts repentance from His servants?} and His saying: {Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins."} and His saying: {Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds; for them Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones.}
Make your repentance sincere for the sake of Allah, for affliction may expiate sins, as in the Hadith: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah expiates some of his sins thereby."
Avoid the company of suspicious people, and strive to change yourself by becoming tough and avoiding effeminacy, and by imitating men, and seek help from a psychiatrist if necessary. Do not be concerned about scandal, and make the pleasure of Allah your ultimate goal.
