What is the ruling on uttering the Two Testimonies of Faith in a church?
Remembrance of Allah is among the best deeds, and uttering the two testimonies of faith (Shahadatayn) is the best form of remembrance. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to remember Allah in all his states. The remembrance of Allah is prescribed at all times and in all places, except for what is specifically excluded by evidence, such as when relieving oneself. There is no evidence prohibiting the remembrance of Allah and uttering the two testimonies of faith inside a church. However, entering a church is subject to consideration: if it is for a permissible or legitimate purpose, such as inviting them to Islam, then it is permissible or legitimate. But if it is for a forbidden purpose, such as congratulating Christians on their holidays, or if it involves silence regarding an abomination, then it is forbidden.
