If the mother places obstacles in the way of marriage, she is wronging, and one should pray for her rectitude. For a valid marriage, there are conditions, the most important of which are the guardian (wali) and witnesses. It is not advisable to marry without the mother's knowledge, for fear of her reaction. It is better to search for a righteous girl and have wise people intercede with your mother to convince her. If she does not agree, then strive to appease her after marriage. Marriage is obligatory for whoever fears temptation for himself and falling into immorality.
