Is it permissible to perform tayammum instead of ghusl for prayer and reciting the Qur’an if bathing causes illness or dizziness, and does tayammum remove janabah?
If ablution causes you illness, you must wash what you can of your body and then perform tayammum for the rest. The same applies to wudu from minor impurity: you wash what you can of the limbs and perform tayammum for the rest. Tayammum is only permissible when water is unavailable or when one is unable to use it due to illness. The illness that permits tayammum is defined as that which causes fear of death or damage to a limb, or the occurrence of a feared illness, or slow recovery, or a visible disfigurement. Slight hardship, however, does not permit tayammum. Scholars have divided hardships into two categories: hardship that is usually inseparable from worship and does not nullify it, and hardship from which worship is usually separable, which is further divided into: great hardship that necessitates alleviation, slight hardship that has no effect, and moderate hardship where the ruling varies.
