Is performing the obligatory Hajj with ill-gotten money valid, or does ill-gotten money prevent the Hajj from being valid?

The majority of jurists hold that Hajj performed with ill-gotten money is valid, though the perpetrator incurs sin and their reward is diminished. This is the fatwa issued by the Permanent Committee. Imam Ahmad, however, disagreed, believing it to be invalid, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah is good and accepts only what is good."
