If a mother gives her son gold as a loan, he must repay it to her upon her demand. Some scholars hold that repayment is obligatory immediately, even if she does not demand it. If there is no explicit statement or circumstantial indication that it is a loan, the husband should ask her. If she says it is a loan, then he must repay it, as her word is what is considered in this matter.
