Is a person who experiences continuous flatulence that only stops by clenching the muscle tightly considered to be among those with an excuse, knowing that this affects his devotion in prayer?

If it is possible to hold back gas easily and without harm, then the person is not considered to have incontinence. It is disliked to pray while suppressing gas, as it disrupts khushu' (devotional concentration). It is not permissible to exit the obligatory prayer because of it, unless one fears harm. However, if holding back gas causes difficulty or fear of harm, then it falls under the ruling of gas incontinence (salas al-reeh) if it becomes predominant throughout the time. Some scholars are of the view that wudu' is invalidated by this, even if gas does not exit, because the hadath (ritual impurity) is considered to have occurred by ruling.
