Is praying against oneself for not having children a sin, out of fear of trials befalling one's children in a foreign country?

Bearing children is the primary purpose of marriage and a right for both spouses. Neither spouse may prevent the other from it except out of necessity. This is why coitus interruptus (azl) is prohibited without the wife's permission.

A Muslim's supplication not to have children is considered an transgression in supplication (i'tida' fi ad-du'a) and goes against the Sunnah (definition) of procreation. It also resembles the prohibited act of supplicating against one's children. Instead, one should ask Allah for well-being and righteous offspring.

A Muslim should move from countries where they fear for their religion and the religion of their children, except in cases of extreme necessity. If compelled to stay, they must raise their children with a sound Islamic upbringing according to Allah's law, as the righteousness of children is among the greatest things parents should strive for.
