How can one overcome the satanic thoughts that plague a worshiper during prayer and worship, which include evil suggestions about God, and cause him to lose reverence and tranquility?

Whispers (waswas) during prayer and in other contexts are from Satan, who strives to lead Muslims astray. The Companions complained to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about whispers during prayer, and he guided them to seek refuge in Allah and to spit lightly to their left three times. Reverence (khushu') in prayer is very important and can be achieved by reflecting on its words and actions, and by striving to repel anything that distracts the heart. Whispers concerning the essence of Allah are incitements from Satan. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, described them as "pure faith" because disliking them is a sign of perfect faith. The treatment for whispers is to say, "I believe in Allah and His messengers," when experiencing them, to turn away from them, to persistently remember Allah and pray, and to seek refuge in Allah Almighty and ask for His help.
