What is the ruling on a woman wearing "effect makeup" (scary face makeup) for entertainment purposes, and not to go out in public?

One cannot pass judgment on something that has not been seen or whose true nature is unknown. However, if the makeup is "frightening" in the sense that it terrifies those who see it, then it is not permissible to use it, even for amusement, due to the evidence prohibiting frightening a Muslim. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to frighten a Muslim." This hadith indicates the impermissibility of frightening a Muslim, even in jest. Furthermore, purchasing such makeup involves extravagance and squandering of money, which is forbidden.
