Why didn't Ibn Taymiyyah marry, even though it is the Sunnah?

Marriage is a Sunnah of the Messengers, but some scholars, like Ibn Taymiyyah, refrained from it because he was preoccupied with jihad, knowledge, combating innovations, da'wah (preaching), reform, and education, in addition to the persecution and imprisonment he endured. Thus, he preferred knowledge and jihad over marriage.
