What is the madhhab that children follow after marriage, Hanafi or Maliki, and is it permissible for the son to follow the Hanafi madhhab and the daughter to follow the Maliki madhhab?

It is permissible for children to follow a madhhab (school of thought) different from that of their father or mother, or for each child to follow a different madhhab, as long as it is within the scope of the four madhahib of the Ahl al-Sunnah (People of the Sunnah), because these madhahib are true. Ibn Qudamah mentioned that Allah guaranteed the preservation of a group from this Ummah (nation) upon the truth, and He made this possible through the survival of their scholars who are emulated. Their consensus is a definitive proof, and their differences are a vast mercy. Allah has singled out a group of scholars whose madhahib have endured, and upon them revolve the legal rulings; the jurists of Islam issue fatwas (religious edicts) according to their madhahib.
