Who is Ali bin Sultan Muhammad al-Qari, and is he trustworthy to acquire knowledge from?

Mulla Ali al-Qari, a jurist, hadith scholar, and Qur'an reciter, was born in Herat around 930 AH. He moved to Mecca, where he settled and studied, and he died there around 1014 AH. He was a Hanafi by madhhab, known for his piety and asceticism, earning his living by the labor of his own hands. Each year, he would write a copy of the Qur'an and sell it to sustain himself. Scholars praised him extensively for his mastery of both rational and transmitted sciences, and his expertise in hadith, tafsir, and qira'at. He was fair in his assessment of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim, though he was influenced by the Maturidi school in some issues concerning divine attributes. He authored numerous works, including "Tafsir al-Qur'an" and "Mirqat al-Mafatih."
