The possessor of ill-gotten wealth is not permitted to benefit from it himself, unless he is poor and in need, in which case he may take from it what suffices his need. If ill-gotten wealth is given to a poor person, it does not become unlawful for him; rather, it becomes lawful. The poor person may then spend it on himself and his family if they are poor.
